Photo of Lady Bugg   Hi all, I recently celebrated the 4 year anniversary of my wls. I've lost 135 pounds have have been holding steady at that amount for about 2 years. I'd like to lose about 20 more pounds and I've recently started an exercise program. Been visiting the Obesity Help Message Board (RnY)to get ideas and support. I've been feeling the need to reconnect with my fellow wls people.    -- Lady Bugg

Saturday, 4-14-07 Today is the second anniversary of my surgery. I'm doing great. I've leveled off with my weight loss. I'm bouncing between 95 and 100 lbs weight loss. I wouldn't mind losing another 20 lbs, but I'm not going to complain. I'm healthy and very active, which wasn't true 2 years ago. This surgery gave me a new lease on life. I'll never forget Dr. Smith. I don't believe I would be walking now if I hadn't had that surgery. Jo Ann    -- Jo Ann Herald

Hi everyone, I haven't posted since February. I've been busy working and also trying to get my house back in order after a car went through my garage and into my living room. Things are just now getting back together. I am now 1 year and 4 months since surgery and have lost 96 lbs. I seem to be at a standstill. I don't think I've lost any since about December, but haven't gained any. I'd love to lose about 20 more lbs. but would be happy the weight I am. My hair is still getting thicker and my nails growing. This is the Bluegrass Music Festival season, so we've been pretty busy going to them. Things will slow down here pretty soon, so maybe I can post more often. Until next time. JOANN    -- Jo Ann Herald

I am deeply sadden that Lisa has left us. I would never ever think she would leave us. I know she is very very happy with our progress and we will continue to progress even more without her. Nobody can't never take the place of Lisa. She is a heaven from above. Lisa, if you do read this, I am doing very well in the Medical field. I pass all of my classes with an A. I am so proud of myself and I know you will be. I cannot wait until I am actually out there in the medical field helping other people just like you. May God bless you and you will never be forgotten, THATS FOR SURE. Good Luck and keep smiling always!!!    -- Debra French

Photo of Sherry Hutchison   Lisa Gergen announced at last week's support group that she would be leaving Dr. Smith's office and moving on in her career. I would just like to say THANK YOU on behalf of all of the patients Lisa has supported through their journey. Lisa has been the backbone to the program and we will miss her terribly. Good Luck with all you do! You are loved by all of us! God Speed. Go help more people the way you've helped us. Sherry    -- Sherry Hutchison

Hi Everyone, I am now 10 months post-op. I have lost a total of 93 lbs., and have 27 more to go. My 14 clothes are now getting too big, but I'm not totally comfortable in all size 12's. I think by the time I lost the other 27 lbs. I will fit into 12's comfortablly. That's as low as I want to go. A 140 should be a good weight for me. At my age, I don't want to get too skinny. I'd probably look sick. I'm eating pretty much anything I want too now. I still have some problems with pasta though. I've found out that my system will tolerate some sugar now, if I don't overdo it. I don't know if that's good to find out or not. So far I haven't abused it though. The problem with my hair is getting better. I'm taking an herb called Biotin, that will help your hair and nails grow and get thick. My hair is beginning to cover my scalp now. It still has a ways to go but getting there. Before I had my surgery, I had to resign my job because of the weight. Now I'm working full time again. I'm a Nanny for two children and love it. A four month old little girl and a 4 year old boy. He's a challenge. He's already fired me once. Never a dull minute when it comes to kids. Until next time. Jo Ann    -- Jo Ann Herald

Hi Everyone, I am now 31 weeks post-op.I have lost a total of 88 lbs. It's funny, but I weighed 88 lbs. when I stsrted teaching in August of 1966. Boy, how things change. I have now gone from wearing size 24 slacks to size 16 and they are now getting too big for me , but am not quite ready for 14. I have some size 22-24, 18-20 dress clothes and casual that are too big if anyone is interested, just email me. I also have a casual and dress winter coat. Until later. Jo Ann    -- Jo Ann Herald

Michelle, I am amost 2 years out and have lost 214. Also at a plateau point and it does get frustrating. I have changed my calorie intake from 1400 to 1200 and adding a walk at lunch with my other exercise workout of 4 to 5 times a week. Strength training is what I need to get involved in and have begun doing this once a week but need to do more. You are right on the mark that it all comes down to calories in vs. calories out at this point of the journey. Keep on keeping on!!    -- Sandi Gullett

Wow, it's been forever since I've been on here, but things have been so crazy. I am one-year post-op (surgery date-10/14/04), and have lost 126 pounds to date. I am working through a plateau right now, but I know that my biggest problem is that I haven't been exercising like I should be. I'm thinking about joining Curves. I have heard lots of good stuff about them, and they have a location here, and near my boyfriend's house. Yes, you heard me right---BOYFRIEND!!! We've been seeing eachother for 3 months now, and things are getting serious. We just made reservations for a trip to Florida in December! I can't believe that a little over a year ago, I wouldn't even put on a bathing suit, and here I am going to Florida to wear one in public!!! He's kind of getting me motivated to exercise more, because he's a swimming team coach at the high school where he teaches. He's been a great source of support, and is a pretty good cook, too. (I just have to watch him when he's loading up the mashed potatoes with butter and sour cream!!!) I have also just become "unemployed", and thanks to the state of Ohio and my frugal lifestyle, am going to take a break and am able to take full advantage of my unemployment benefits for a few weeks. Is anyone interested in being a walking buddy? I would love to get someone to walk with in the Northern KY area a couple times a week. Any time is ok with me. If interested, please feel free to email me at michelle6123@aol.com. Also, if anyone has any advice about busting through plateaus, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Best of luck to all. If anyone would like to talk, ask questions, etc...please let me know. I am very interested in getting more involved in the weight-loss community as a source of support for pre/post-op patients, so if anyone knows of any opportunities out there, please let me know. again, my email is michelle6123@aol.com. Have a blessed day and remember the big 3-Protein, Calcium, and B-12!!!    -- Michelle Breeden

Hi everyone, I am now 23 weeks post-op, and doing great. I've lost 77 lbs. I am now off all the previous medication. Now all I take is my vitamine, calcium, B-12, and Biotin for my hair and nails. I found that my hair was getting thinner than it was before, and I thought it was thin before. I've taking the herb Biotin for about a month and my hair is growing again and it seems to be some thicker. This makes me happy, because I sure don't want to loose all my hair. Until next time I post. JoAnn     -- Jo Ann Herald

06-23-05 It has been 10 weeks since I had my surgery, and I'm doing great. I am down 36lbs. I guess I'll start looking for a part-time job now. I'm getting restless. I'm retired, so I don't want to work full-time. Thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Jo Ann Herald    -- Jo Ann Herald

I hope that someone can assist me. I'm trying to convince my insurance company (Humana PPO) that I need this surgery. Has anyone out there had to do that too? If so, what did you write in order to get approval? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.     -- Angel Dillander
